Shelley's presence in the locker room is very understated, so thanks Bill. You're spot on with the whole financial aspect of his cap hit, personally, that shouldn't matter and the players don't seem to mind either. Shelley is there for a reason when he's on the ice. Everyone knows this.

Shelley is my Fav player on the Flyers and in the NHL... Saw him play alot when I was younger and when I played I tried to be like him. I would hate to see him go down to the AHL. He is a good guy off the ice and an ass hole on the ice... whats not to love??

Not at all a fan of Rinaldo. Way too much potential for dumb penalties and/or disaster for my liking.

if the Flyers opt to part ways with Shelley at the NHL level for a cheaper/younger guy, I do hope they can get someone who needs to hit the floor to take him. He seems like a good guy and I would really like to see him elsewhere in the NHL than in the AHL

Sorry...."cheap" is slang for "unfair".

Dates back to the Street Fighter 2 arcade days.

Was hoping you'd have replied sooner as I was going to delete my post and move yours back to first.

Why do we need to over pay for another D man? We are fine with the D men we have. Jbo is going to protect the team? No I think not

Jay-Bo will be a scapegoat even before he takes on stride on the ice for this team.

Bill, Wellwood to me is on the list with Giroux, Schenn, and co. The kid is a very solid player, who kinda reminds me of Marty Murray in a few ways... his stat line was pretty solid for his first taste of the NHL, and despite only playing about a quarter of the season. Expanded for a full 82 games.. he was scoring at a 30 point pace...

His speed is his best asset, but if he could improve his hands a bit (i know its tough to do so) he could be a bit more of an offensive force. Right now.. he is an ideal 3rd/4th line winger who is very responsible defensively.

Who else are we over-paying? J-Bo, though overpaid, helps us during a season where we've lost Carle and will be missing Meszy for a good portion of the year. The salary is there.

The extra year on J-Bo's contract won't hut as much because Timonen will either be retired or come back at a much cheaper clip than he's currently signed at.

The J-Bo move, to me, is a no-brainer as long as we don't have to give up too much talent to get him.

Me too.. he can do a bit of everything, and his speed really could make him dangerous.. If only he had his brothers hands.. and i mean that seriously.

I still think he could be a 15-15-30 guy...

The guys on my hockey team are nuts.. They think Read is terrible. It drives me nuts.. trade him now! They think he is gonna be a 4th line player.. "He got lucky cause he played up in the lineup"

Yea the guy averaged 2 minutes on the pp and pk, was nearly a 20 minute a night player, but he was lucky.. really jsut a 4th liner.

I don't think Wellwood is an absolute lock for an NHL roster spot, but he's got a job to lose as the 11th forward. Rinaldo has the inside track for the 12th forward role, and that leaves Shelley and Sestito to compete for the "extra" spot.
